Ovogodišnji Met Gala spektakl okupio je brojna imena celebrity sveta koji su na raznovrsne načine odali počast impresivnoj zaostavštini Karla Lagerfelda, čiji su lik i delo bili i tema ovogodišnjeg eventa pod nazivom "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty".

Tema je bila dovoljno jednostavna i jasna, a opet dovoljno izazovna i, prema viđenom, elemenata koji opisuju Karla Lagerfelda nije nedostajalo - nosili su se sakoi, kravate, bele košulje, biseri (Kim Kardashian u Schiaparelli, Lizzo u Chanelu), motiv cveta kamelije (Olivia Rodrigo u Thomu Browneu, Cardi B u balskoj haljini, Rihanna u Valentino haljini), tvid tvida (Dua Lipa u Chanel venčanom looku koji je dizajnirao Lagerfeld, a izvorno ga je nosila Claudia Schiffer 1992, Billie Eilish u Simone Rocha), mašne, uglavnom crno-bele kombinacije i modeli koji podsećaju na neke od nezaboravnih kolekcija velikog dizajnera poput Chanel couture haljine Nicole Kidman koju je Lagerfeld dizajnirao za nju još 2004. godine, kada je glumila u reklami za Chanel br. 5, te Penelope Cruz u looku s kapuljačom iz 1998. godine.
